About Rasp & Sturt.
Born in Broken Hill. Read Nationwide.
Rasp & Sturt is a quarterly lifestyle magazine that celebrates the beauty and lifestyle of Broken Hill and includes the towns of Silverton, Tibooburra, White Cliffs, Menindee, Cobar, Wilcannia, Wanaaring, Milparinka and Packsaddle.
Our magazine can be purchased from one of our many local stockists (listed below) in Broken Hill or any of those who stock our magazine through the west and far west of NSW. The magazine can also be purchased online, as are previous issues.
The vision for a local magazine has been embedded in our thought bubble ethos since the early 1980s. During that time, many local publications have appeared, served their moment, and disappeared.
We took a more serious step toward launching a local magazine in 2023, registering relevant details and names at that time. It wasn’t until the collapse of the local newspaper, Barrier Daily Truth, that the process was accelerated and the concept was brought to life as a physical product.
Obviously other people had similar ideas and we were ready to go to print when we heard that a Mildura company was planning to create and publish a newspaper from Victoria. Obviously we don't see any newspapers as an opposition to our magazine but the advertising dollar in a smaller community only goes so far and since then we have had to share with the newspaper whatever advertising dollar may be in town and we have been very lucky that a number of local business have decided to support local and advertise with us regularly.

We create for people.
WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
We simply love what we do here at Rasp & Sturt. We love we can work with the broader community and that we have become an integral part of the wider community. We believe every community should have a decent informative and entertaining magazine – we think it is the soul of a broader community like ours bringing Broken Hill and all of the smaller towns that surround us together in one publication.
Creating Rasp & Sturt also allows us to meet and speak with people outside of our community. We get to meet people doing amazing jobs all over the state of New South Wales as well and nationally and even international.
We get to highlight locals who have done amazing things in their lives, and we get to share that with our readers.
In essence this is our work and we feel extremely lucky to present to our readers the stories that mean support to our local community.
Creating this kind of publication also enables us to engage and speak with and work with the locals who call this amazing part of our beautiful country home.
We are indeed blessed and we thank everyone who supports us from our advertisers and stockists to those who purchase and read our articles and stories.
Rasp & Sturt also gives us a platform in which we can highlight things that may be items that normally covered with other media sources and allows us to present to the people a different view or everything Broken Hill.
