Old Country, New Coversations
A call for our people, near and far, to come together again
Rasp and Sturt is a magazine shaped by and for the community, grounded in the belief that the Far West is held together by stories, memory and connection. We want to shine a light on the people who continue to make this place home, while also reaching those who have left and built lives elsewhere, carrying the spirit of the region with them. In doing so, we hope to help stitch together a social fabric that spans distance and time, rekindling old ties and, in some cases, opening conversations between people who have not spoken for decades, or even longer.
This is also an invitation. We are turning to you, the people of this region and those connected to it and asking you to be part of what we are building. Our hope is to create something genuinely special — something with the heart of the old outback and the energy of a modern publication. By blending that traditional character with a fresh perspective, Rasp and Sturt aims to bring people and communities together, tell the stories that matter, and keep locals connected to what locals are doing, creating and contributing every day.
We are incredibly fortunate to live where we live, in a place with such a strong sense of community, history and possibility, the isolation allows us to form a different way of life and different more resilient people. It is our hope that Rasp & Sturt will help start important conversations that may influence the future direction of our area, and that this will be a great opportunity for you to be involved in something we hope will transcend differences and become part of Broken Hill and the Far West region for a long time to come.
If you have a story to tell, something you believe deserves attention, or an issue you think the region should know about, we encourage you to get in touch. Whether it is something that needs to be highlighted, investigated, or simply a good story about someone you know — or someone you used to know — we want to hear it. Rasp and Sturt is built on the idea that the strongest communities are those that listen, share and stay connected through the stories that matter.
This is your magazine as much as it is ours and the next story starts with you
If it matters to the Far West of NSW, it matters to us.
